From military barrack to stylish hotel: After years of planning and renovation, Hotel Bergwelten Salwideli in Sörenberg is now a stunning blend of tradition and sustainable innovation. Nestled in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Entlebuch, the hotel offers sleek modern design in a breathtaking mountain setting. The 18-month renovation focused on using local materials, with Gastruum GmbH leading the way in creating a refined alpine experience, custom-printed wool inspired fabric by 4Spaces. This grand reopening is a testament to vision, sustainability, and elegance. Coinciding with Art Basel and Vitra’s annual campus celebration of design, Rotterdam-based designer Sabine Marcelis has been tasked with reimagining the VitraHaus Loft in Weil am Rhein. This project draws on the Vitra catalogue, designs, and artworks by friends and collaborators, employing a cascading color scheme to inspire visitors to reimagine their own living spaces. Sabine Marcelis is celebrated globally for her distinct focus on materiality, with pure forms in a strong and confident color palette.
